Hip Hip Hooray...it's a Snow Day!

Good Morning Dear Blogging Friends~

Yesterday morning we woke up to about 6 inches of the most beautiful fresh, white snowfall, that had blanketed us from the evening before. Our first major storm of the year.

It is just such a blessing to be able to admire it from the kitchen nook of our warm, cozy cottage, sipping a warm cup of coffee with one hand, and petting my cat Truffles with the other!

Birds chattering and chirping at the birdfeeder, and icicles beginning to form off the edges of my potting shed, made for a feast for the eyes and a sense of gratitude for such simple pleasures in life!

Since I knew I would be staying in for the day, I decided to organize my recipe folder, and recipe box, by combining them into one 2 1/2 inch binder. This is something I had planned to do for awhile, but had never gotten the opportunity to work on. (I got the idea from a dear friend of mine, Kim.)

I wanted to make it personal with a collection of recipies that are "tried and true", but also to catalog recipes that I really want to try some day . I am really happy with the way it turned out, and have already put about 150 pages of recipes together, by catagory, with some pictures that inspire me.

This is a wonderful book to pass along to my boys one day, and a great way to keep my recipes organized, neat, and clean.

Let me know if you have any other suggestions, or ideas to share.

I would love to hear from you!

Home Goods

Ahhh....took a nice relaxing trip to Home Goods today to get my creative juices flowing and to see what's out there this week. Hubby has had the flu since Valentine's Day and I was due for a little "me" time.

Some of you might think it's a bit strange to shop to relax, but I find it so inspiring and a wonderful creative outlet. I have even set up my own prop's in the store, pulling together things I love and putting them together on a tabletop, a chair, or wherever my design eye leads me. I have always loved set designing, decorating and creating new and unusual arrangements, so to "play" in the store, keep's me from spending a fortune and allows me to have fun... I just don't get paid for it!

Whenever I go there, I always find the most unusual and adorable decorations for the holidays, and Easter is no exception. The store has had tons of Easter items for the past few weeks, so when I see something, I pick it up. Needless to say my collection is growing and I have gotten such a sweet assortment of items over the years.

Here are a few pictures of the finds I picked up. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do, and hope you have a Home Goods near you, Their prices are amazing! xxxooo

Valentine Fun....

This is a sweet picture taken back in 1960, of my Mom, Dad, me, and all of my sisters, by a local newspaper announcing the birth of their seventh daughter. I am daughter number six and the one in my Dad's arms.

As an artist, I couldn't resist the urge to embellish this adorable picture with my own sense of fun and whimsy for Valentine's Day. As you can see, I am the one with the red party hat...I like to be different! xxxooo

Hi Eyeryone!

Last night I went to visit a dear friend of mine named Stacy. She is one of the most creative people I know.

While chatting over a glass of nice merlot, this is what I spotted over her shoulder. Isn't it sweet??!! I loved it so much that she gave it to me!

PLEASE go visit her flickr account. Her flickr name is "stacycakes"

EVERY time I go to her house, I leave so inspired. Her home is beautifu and so lived. Last night I had a hard time falling asleep with all of the juicy inspirations going through my head.. I hope you love it as much as I do!!!

Cool Stuff!!!

Oh MY!!!
I am so excited to share a product with you. My sister, Katie, (one of 6 sissies!), got me turned onto it and it is AMAZING!!! This time of the year, my hands and feet are always sooo dry, and flaky and in need of MAJOR attention, so I turned to Arbonne's Awaken Sea Salt Scrub. This stuff REALLY works and smells delightful. You just grab a glob, rub your hands together vigerously for a minute, rinse, and viola! Your hands look , feel and smell GREAT!!! The only drawback is you can only get it through distributors, but the link will direct you where to go.I hope you are able to try it...it's worth it!!! Your hands and feet will love you for it!
