Good Morning Dear Blogging Friends~
Yesterday morning we woke up to about 6 inches of the most beautiful fresh, white snowfall, that had blanketed us from the evening before. Our first major storm of the year.
It is just such a blessing to be able to admire it from the kitchen nook of our warm, cozy cottage, sipping a warm cup of coffee with one hand, and petting my cat Truffles with the other!
Birds chattering and chirping at the birdfeeder, and icicles beginning to form off the edges of my potting shed, made for a feast for the eyes and a sense of gratitude for such simple pleasures in life!
Since I knew I would be staying in for the day, I decided to organize my recipe folder, and recipe box, by combining them into one 2 1/2 inch binder. This is something I had planned to do for awhile, but had never gotten the opportunity to work on. (I got the idea from a dear friend of mine, Kim.)
I wanted to make it personal with a collection of recipies that are "tried and true", but also to catalog recipes that I really want to try some day . I am really happy with the way it turned out, and have already put about 150 pages of recipes together, by catagory, with some pictures that inspire me.
This is a wonderful book to pass along to my boys one day, and a great way to keep my recipes organized, neat, and clean.
Let me know if you have any other suggestions, or ideas to share.
I would love to hear from you!
XXXOOO Ruth

That is really nice! Oh to be organized.....something I admire but always fall short of. Good job! :-) Rosie
What a great idea! I need to get my recipes organized ... it's only been on my "to do" list for 2 years! Thanks so much for your comments on my time management. The is my 2nd day and so far I'm getting more than usual accomplished. Have a wonderful weekend! ~ Lynda xo
Ruth that looks great. Oranising our Recipes is one of those things we tend to put off for quite a few years.

you are so organized...what a beautiful day yesterday was!!
Looks like you are off to a relly great start!
Nice job on your recipe binder - very pretty cover! I recently did a couple of binders for my recipes too and put a ocuple of pics on my blog. I was inspired by Manuela's post on her blog at The Feathered Nest.
Wow, great idea and what perfect day to do it!!!I love teh sign and pattern you used.
Someday I'll do it too....

Great idea. I am planning my cookbook too for the future generations. At the moment I am working on my household journal. Somehow it takes such a long time to organize myself, but hopefully...
Enjoy your weekend. Suzy
Dear Ruth,
Your snow picture is beautiful -- can't wait to see your summer garden pics!
Love the recipe binder. I'm afraid I'm much too disorganized to ever achieve something as nice! :)

Hi Ruth,
Love the snow pictures!! We are expecting some rain today but still no snow in sight. We had 2 inches one time this winter..that's all! I'd love just one nice snowfall before spring! :o)
I'm so envious of people who are organized. I have recipes scattered everywhere and a consolidation of them has been on my to-do list for...hmmm..most of my adult life!!
Hugs,
Hope
Dear Ruth,
I am so glad I found your lovely blog! The photos of the snow are just beautiful, and your cookbook reminds me of the vintage Better Homes and Gardens cookbook. I also have a cookbook that was given to me as a wedding present by my mother, who wrote all my favorite recipes of hers in it for me. It is a ring binder also, with blank pages for recording new favorite recipes. It is a treasure now!
Blessings,
Christi

Ruth,I came to vist at the suggestion of Hope.you were tagged as I was.My site is a bit rambling at best and maybe a little tasteless at worse.I see that you have been blessed with being married 24 years, and have two grown kids and 2 cats as well that you consider family. Well I have you beat,My missis and I have got 28 years this march the first.
Hogs and Blessings to you and your family.Mike
Hi Ruth. Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment about my kitchen. I have been away since last Friday so I am trying to get caught up with what's been happening with y blogging friends. Your idea for a recipe book is great and I like the blak and white cover for it. Rhondi xo
Hi Ruth,
I'm so glad you want to play the meme! Just link to me saying that I'm the one who tagged you. Then just copy and paste the rules of the game (listed in green on my blog). Afte you do your list of 7 things, just tag 7 people and link to them. Then leave them a comment on their blog saying they have been tagged. That's it! If you have any questions let me know.
There's a little work involved but it's worth it. It's another way of connecting with other bloggers! When I did my first meme it really helped me because I had to learn things like linking which I didn't know at that time!
Hugs,
Hope
Hello there... more pictures of your snow, please! I would love to see 6 inches of snow. We had about 5 or 6" twice this winter. I want one more big one, if i can have my wish...
Enjoy your day and your kitchen.
God Bless.
